wood free paper vs. cotton paper, printer wants switch..help

I am having 1000 photography books printed from a chinese printing company, they are about to print and asked if they could switch the paper for the following reasons. I could really use some help, any q's I should ask? does this make sense? should I force them to use the matt art paper or will quality suffer like they are saying. Please help if you can..

. For your photo book, i have made some little changes. We have instead the 150gsm matt art paper with 140gsm woodfree paper, cus the woodfree paper is more durable to connect the bookblock. Kindly let me know your idea.
