My debut novel HENNY ON THE COUCH comes out in a few weeks and I'm having trouble figuring out what to read at readings. My novel moves between three pivotal time periods in one woman's life (meaning 3 arcs, as well) and I'm not sure if I should give short bits from each time period--or read only the opening--or perhaps a section which leaves the audience with the most tension ...
Thanks

Go with the tension. You want your audience begging for more so they'll buy the book.

I'm still wrapping my novel up, but there's several scenes that I never planned to write. They insisted that they be in the book and really made the characters come alive. Those are the ones I plan to read.
