I recommend "How I became a famous novelist" by Steve Hely. Its a quick read, pretty funny and more subtle and nuanced than I wanted to admit, but it has me laughing and grimacing all at once. I am not in love with his "prose", but cannot fault him for it, as writing a novel that in format -the memoir of a third party whose a first time novelist- takes real talent. I give him all the credit in the world for making it real and enjoyed the book quite a bit.
If you have read it- let me know, I'd love to hear what you thought.
