Having completed most of the other projects I've got going, I decided to take at look at the memoirs I'd started some time back. I published one short story, Mekong Ambush, on Kindle and another, An Army Ocean Voyage, on my blog. Then, I started rewriting and revising and came to the conclusion that I might share them on my blog.

So, here is Joining the Army - June 1957 http://lvc ... ogspot.com

I hope it entertains and informs. Comments are welcome, of course.

You know when you get that cool idea for your novel, and it'd make it so much better but demands a lot of extra work? Yeah. http://claudiea.blogspot.com/2011/06/idea-worm.html

When we think of backstory, we tend to picture flashbacks and infodumps or dropped hints that fit together to complete the puzzle by the end. But what if there was a type of backstory that was equally powerful because it remained unexplained? Read more at http://harbingercodex.blogspot.com/2011 ... ul-by.html

My Post Today: Forever Jung: Why Carl Jung is Still Worth Studying

Carl Jung died 50 years ago on this day. Famous first as a follower of Freud, he eventually split with the master when they disagreed over the explanatory power of sex drives. Jung's writing later greatly influenced Joseph Campbell, whose Hero's Journey still has tremendous force in storytelling, particularly in Hollywood, where George Lucas openly used it as a template for Star Wars.

Jung remains influential in depth psychology and dream interpretation, but I focus on why he's interesting to writers and readers.
