They say confession is good for the soul, so when I was challenged on another forum, I had to take a deep look inside myself, and it wasn't pretty. Truth is often painful, but when finally spoken becomes freeing to the person.
I admit, I used to live on ink and graphite. Then in high school, I switched to IBM Selectric. It was hard at first, but became easier with more practice. I didn't have the heart to tell my mom I preferred IBM. She was a secretary and it would have been too difficult for her to accept.
Things went from there to the most addictive of all - Apple in 1986. It was the floppy disks that hooked me. Those cute hand-sized objects that worked most of the time, but on occasion failed to give me a reboot. Fortunately, Microsoft came along and improved the product, thus securing me for life.

Anyone else for a little fun? :)
Confession of an old writing addict
Re: Confession of an old writing addict
Okay, I'll play.
I have voice recognition software. (I have a connective tissue disorder so my hands are trashed and don't work very well.) And I don't use it. It's not even installed on my computer right now.
I have to type.
Sometimes I swear that my fingers write just as much as my brain does. I might not know exactly where to go with a scene, but I put my fingers to my keys and close my eyes and something perfect and beautiful flows onto the screen. I don't know how they do that. It's kinda scary, actually. But it feels so magical that I just can't do without it. I can't think and speak and create a novel. I need the tactile feel and beautiful sound of clicking keys in order to write.
