Like many people I've been riveted by the events in Egypt, and I found this NY Times article on the role of writers and intellecturals in Egypt really interesting:

Thanks for the article, Nathan. I've been following the Egyptian protests pretty closely myself (though I hadn't seen this article yet). A friend of mine married an Egyptian man only a few months ago, though thankfully they moved here to the States. I can only wonder what's happening to their relatives back in Egypt; I hope they're all right. At least it looks like we might be moving toward the tail end of this thing.
