Hi Nathan,
I know that you were an agent and that you have an agent yourself, and I am in complete support of writers obtaining an agent to promote them and their work. That being said, let's say there is a publishing house that still takes submissions, a publishing house that you would love to have publish your work. You submit your manuscript, they love it and want to publish it. Could you go back, then, and get an agent and say that this publisher wants to publish your book? Or would the agent, any agent, be upset that you circumvented the process? Also, what if you did this simultaneously - trying to get an agent and submitting to a publishing house?
Thanks for answering a question that is probably pretty far-fetched and silly, but would help me a lot. :0)
