What to wear?

Post by Watcher55 » December 4th, 2010, 10:15 am

I fixed Watcher's "Tiresius" AV and got to wondering if he's the better face for the NB forums, or if I should go back to the "Muad'dib" AV I wore at a political forum I used to frequent. Whadda ya think?

Do you ever feel like changing your AV to fit your mood or are you happy with the one you have? I'll answer my own question later if this thread doesn't starve to death and slip into oblivion.

Believe it or not, Watcher, I noticed when you changed your avatar and did a little frownie face. I love the Muad'Dib and even considered commenting when you changed. But that's just my opinion. (I do like how you chose two characters who are [or become] blind prophets.)

As for my avatar - I love it (the candy and the fact that I'm a nerd) but I often want to change it. I have so many goofy little things on my computer - gigabytes of random references to my favorite books and all sorts of crazy uber-nerd things. The temptation to change is always with me, but I know that once I started I'd be changing it every day. Therefore, I stick with the nerd. Until I find something better. :)

Thanks God (hee hee) and thanks for picking up on the motiff. I've already decided that I'm gonna change my signature weekly (that way I won't do it "just acuz"), but the AV is different and I have to resist the tempation to change it to one of the dozens I have in reserve every time the mood strikes.

Nerds are cool. (is that a self-contradictory statement?)

I change my avatar weekly on the blog, so I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. How can one picture possibly be enough? Sadly, though, if I had one, I think I'd only change it every couple of months on the forums - it's more personal here, and the connections are more real. That's partly why I don't have a picture on the forums. I just can't pick one.

In terms of what picture, just be aware that most people aren't looking for a theme; if you post something remotely ressembeling (I wonder how you spell that word?) a human, they'll assume that's you. Unless you go with someone clearly not human. Don't know if that matters, or if it's helpful, but those are my thoughts. :)

I thought both pics were really you, Watcher55! I saw them as classic examples of how just a week or two on the Bransforums can age a man.

I must change my avatar too. Oh, wait...

I live in West TN where we have cotton fields, pick-up trucks and, even in the "cities" more churches than gas stations. Don't hate, it's a great place to live but it's not a place where Watcher has many opportunities to share ideas and discuss the things he doesn't know, so I'm glad my search for an agent led to Bransforum.

Watcher is the me that doesn't have much of an outlet except in the strings of letters that swirl around in my head and I like the idea of having an AV that reflects that. Something that says, I know things that other folks don't know but only because I learned it from them.

Well, I'm glad you found a place with like-minded people! :) Thank god for the internet!!!!

And I think you should go with whatever picture really speaks to you!
