What is the best way to word this in my query?

Post by CariZ » December 6th, 2010, 2:35 pm

Hi Nathan,

As I am nearing sending out the dreaded (or exciting) first query I need help with how something should be worded- in your wise and humble opinion.

Here's the thing- my finished MS can stand alone in the sense that it has its own buildup, climax, and satisfying resolution. It does, however, have an overarching narrative that would be resolved at the end of a series.

Think HP with the final confrontation with Voldy coming after 7 books, only in my situation the MC has to find certain items before the villain gets them in his clutches and then on to the final showdown. (Note- I am not comparing myself to JKR in any way, shape, or form. I'm not worthy!)

Would it be ok to say my novel can stand alone, but has an overarching narrative etc. Or is this a case where I can't really say it "stands alone"? Help!

Thanks, Cari
