Silly things we think about
Silly things we think about
Shouldn't those of us who grew up with the practice be grandfathered in and allowed to say/write "an historic event?

Re: Stupid things we think about
I have always wondered why there are no hyper intelligent plants. I mean, why animals and not plants? Wouldn't it be useful to be a smart tree?
Re: Stupid things we think about
We have the two Dakotas
We have the two Virginias
We have the two Koreas
We used to have the two Viet Nams
If Laos suffered a split would they be the Lice?

If there is such a thing as reincarnation, then could it be possible that reincarnation is not a linear event? Could I be reborn in 1478 A.D.? That might explain why some people can predict the future . . . Perhaps they actually lived it.
Oooh! Dibbs on that novel concept!!! New WIP, here I come!

Re: Stupid things we think about
I often wonder if intelligent animals (like dolphins, etc, that have self-recognition) have a concept of gender.

That is so cool, who'da thunk this "stupid" thread would actually flirt with usefulness?Jaime wrote:If there is such a thing as reincarnation, then could it be possible that reincarnation is not a linear event? I used to wonder how cool it'd be if we took vacations to other times instead of places. Nearly a year later I saw a Family Guy in which future Stewie did this.

Didn't see that episode.Moni12 wrote:I used to wonder how cool it'd be if we took vacations to other times instead of places. Nearly a year later I saw a Family Guy in which future Stewie did this.
I'd go to the 1300s. Or maybe I'd try the 1400s if I was going to see my American ancestors...
Other stupid things I think about: who was the person who invented the first violin? One sounds awful when first learning, so why did this person persist?

Re: Stupid things we think about
Great topic. I love the Laos to Lice.
I'm listening to one of my favorite DVDs, the classic ABC News documentary Seeing Is Believing (about UFOs).
Okay, here's what I wonder: for decades, SETI (the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence group) has spent millions of dollars listening for ET... listening and listening and listening for a radio wave broadcast. "And if we find it, we'll give you the coordinates and you can verify it, and that's the difference between science and myth-making."
But what if the aliens tossed out their transistor radios a long time ago?

Maybe SETI should start listening for violins.Holly wrote:But what if the aliens tossed out their transistor radios a long time ago?

My pet peeve ran away and I'm just not sure I'm ready to risk my heart on a new one.
