Meh. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and never be disappointed. Send off a query knowing they're going to reject you. Just know they're going to. Say, "Alright, I wrote this, this person is going to reject it because even super-awesome writers were rejected at least 30 times before being accepted."
Then don't care. If you have a job, a house, a car, and a life, then you're fine for now. It's not like you HAVE TO OMG HAVE IT DONE to survive. I know it's something you want. It's a dream. But it will happen when the time is right. And the time isn't right for you right now.
It sucks to hear that. I hear it all the time. But it's one of those things we have no control over. We just have to have faith that the right thing is going to happen when it's supposed to happen.
Not before. Not after. But right when.
So don't think "this is perfect, they'll take me for sure", think "I don't really care if they take it or not" and send away.
That way when it does come, you'll be floored.
If it doesn't? Eh, no attachment.
Not even a partial
