Hello,
I'm based in the Chicago area and am working on my second novel. I write literary fiction examining race and class in Chicago, with a dash of dark humor. I like to use time shifts as ways to look at the same character in the past, present and future.
I'm looking for a critique partner (or partners) to offer feedback on my latest novel at a couple of junctures. This book focuses on a man in three periods of his life: as a boy who grows up among white supremacists in the '80s, as a young man in the city trying to shed his past and make a name for himself in the cutthroat world of advertising, and as a man in his fifties who feels he must wage a vigilante war against a small town to protect his biracial daughter.
I'd ideally like to partner with another lit fic writer, but I'm open to anyone writing in a genre for adults if they're interested. I know it's excruciatingly difficult to get someone, especially a stranger, to read a MS, but I can only say I take a request for a read and feedback for someone else very seriously. I won't let you down and want to give you my best, and I'm happy to grow a partnership over time. I'm in this for the long haul and want to support others who are serious, too.
Thanks!
Mark

Re: Critique partner for literary fiction
Hi!
I'm a fiction writer as well, my current WIP being adult historical fiction. My story centers around women in 1920's New Orleans who own an alcohol and drug-riddled steamboat.
I am based in Japan, but working towards completing my first draft. I was wondering if you were still looking for a critique partner and would like to chat further?
Let me know and happy writing!
