I've had a gut feeling lately that publishers are holding off on publishing too much at all due to the current turmoil and uncertainty of e's, i's, pod's,twitters, kindles, and rainbows on roses.
Most negatively affected seem to be international authors submitting to US.This uneasiness seems to be flowing over to agents, as well (I emailed Seymour Agency recently to check, and sure enough, they have stopped taking international subs.)
I took my experiment further, and emailed Australian authors' sites, and they all had similar opinions.
One of my friends (published in romance) said she's given up on US publishers and agents for the time being, and is subbing direct to e-book sites.
My next step is to research the current UK situation. I've no doubt I'll find the same story.
Any other internationals with similar discoveries?

What can we do - go e-book like my friend? (But she was offered a measly $700 advance, up against her usual $5000. (Australian currency). Or do we just sit out the industry chaos?

Re: Industry Blues Hit International Authors
Erin,
I’ve been wondering about this, too. I know a couple of authors who have literary agents and book deals with big publishing houses overseas, but their books are only available in the U.S. through indie or e- press. I’ve been wondering why this might be happening.
