Re: I head here, you head there, we all head somewhere....

yes that was helpful. Thank you.

I am going to try to replace most of them and hopefully stop using the phrase all together.

I head here, you head there, we all head somewhere....

I was reading through my (now) 8 chapters and noticed that I used the phrase "head to" 16 time in 52 pages of txt. WOW. I feel like it's way to much and I need to come up with something else to use but that just seems to be the phrase that flows out of me. So when someone is "heading ...

Re: Writing with ADHD

Good luck with your meds and your editing. My son, 8, just started meds for ADD this week and I can see a HUGE difference in him, as well as his teacher and his basketball coach. One suggestion I can make is to get the book The ADD Answer by Dr. Lawless. It has lots of suggestions for alternate trea...

wow so many of you have such good opening lines. Mine seems a bit boring now. :)

Gabby, I like yours. So short yet so intriguing. I give it a 9

Re: Me time, shme time

My hubby complains about me being on the computer so much too. However I try to sit on the couch next to him while he watches whatever on tv. If he complains to much I just tell him, when you give up football to spend time with me I'll put the book down and spend time with you. As of yet, that hasn'...

chapter question.

Do you think it's ok to have a 1500 word chapter if it is really powerful? All of the previous chapters leading to this one are around 3000 words. But where this one starts, and where I feel there can be a powerful, cliff hanger, have to turn the page and start the next chapter, moment happens withi...

Re: how many projects do you work on at a time?

thanks for the responses.

so it sounds like it's a good time to use trial and error. So opening another word file and writing what is coming to me may be a good thing, but if I find it keeps me from doing my first project, place it on hold. :)

how many projects do you work on at a time?

I am, as you know, working on my first novel. I love it and I really want to finish it. However, recently a new idea has started to creep into my mind and has kind of taken over.

So I was wondering, would it be bad to start a second project? How many do you usually work on?

Re: the drawer novel

I too am working on my first novel and praying the drawer novel is not in my future. Ink, your words are very encouraging, thanks! I know that I need to put a lot of work into my wip, but right now it is work of love and I am enjoying every minute of it (well ok, maybe not EVERY minute of it, but ov...

Re: Keeping Boys Reading

My son found another book he seems stoked about. The Brixton Brothers. All it took was an endorsement from Jeff Kinney (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) on the cover and he said it had to be a good book. lol.

Do you always have to connect the dots??

I have a couple of spots where the reader actually has to think about what is happening and I'm wondering if I need to "fix" that. Here is an example...my character is picking up a dog from the shelter. It is the end of the chapter and it is only implied that they are heading home. The beg...
