The "Random Quote" game
The "Random Quote" game
Here's how it works:
1. Grab the nearest book to you. (If it's in arm's reach, you get extra credit.)
2. Turn to page 105.
3. Go to the second full paragraph on the page. (If it's dialogue, that's okay.)
4. Go to the third sentence in the paragraph. (If it's fewer than three sentences, write the last one.)
5. Write it here.
My entry, (from "Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer" by Novella Carpenter.) (Extra credit! It was right behind my laptop.)
"You know whatever you breed, you can eat, too, right?" Nico said, folding a sweater, sweetening the deal.

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven, by Sherman Alexie. (Extra credit. It was the first book I pulled off the bookshelf next to me.)
"I know that most of the electrical circuitry was destroyed, all the batteries dead, all the wires shorted, all the dams burst, but I wonder if this radio still works."

Shelter From The Storm: Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Years by Sid Griffin.
Nobody noticed, because they thought it was another pretentious experiment of the New Wave.
This was while I was at work, so I'll do it again when I get home.

"She could hardly see in the heavy smoke, and tripped over a burning beam, painfully smashing her toes in the process."
(extra credit, too, cause I just got it in the mail!)

She's gotten physical with me before - a wooden spoon once, a slapped face here and there, some hair pulling, and once, a bar of Tone soap in my mouth - but never like this.

"Avoid medicinal doses of all herbs while pregnant unless following advice by a medical herbalist or midwife." (There were four books within reach, but the one on top was my girlfriend's vegan cooking guide.)
Everybody loves using things as other things, right? Check out my blog at the Cromulent Bricoleur and see one hipster's approach to recycling, upcycling, and alterna-cycling (which is a word I just made up).

Either she was seeing some freak reflection in the glass, or someone was sitting in the driver's seat.
From Midnight Kiss by Rebecca York.
Gathering dust whilst propping up my keyboard. I have trouble writing steamy romance, so my mother gave me a Mills and Boon Silhouette intrigue to read. I must admit I have never read an M&B, so maybe I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but there is just something about formula writing that stands in the way of turning that first page. Am I being too harsh?

The Kid Table by Andrea Seigel
As a kid I had an embroidered pillow in my bedroom with Pooh's head saying, "If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you."
(funny too, because this whole entry makes this book sound wholesome and good for the soul. hahahahaha that's not true at all.)
