Who would you vote as the best villain in literature and why?

For me, it's a tie between Iago from Shakespeare's Othello (because he's a ninja in reverse psychology) and Moby Dick from Melville's Moby Dick (need I say more?).

Darth Sidious. Hey, there ARE books, yanno.

Okay, classic literature... I'd go with Sauron.

She's not a guy, but Abigail Williams is EVIL! Is it wrong that she's also one of my favorite characters? She is one bad a a** girl!
