abc wrote:Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness and The Unnamed by Joshua Ferris. Both are scrumptious. One is sad, but scrumptious.
I'm reading SHADOW OF NIGHT right now too! It better not be sad!

The Unnamed is sad. At least in the middle! Shadow of Night is more scrumptious.

Whew! I'm about five chapters from the end, and if it was going to be sad, then I was going to chuck it across the room! So, my book thanks you! (And my wall too!) ;)

I finished up Brent Weeks' Way of Shadows a few weeks ago. It. Was. Amazing! Now, I'm reading the second book in the series: Shadow's Edge. It's interesting to see the differences in pace and approach from the first book.

I am reading an interesting novel my Ray Stokes. It is a supernatural thriller set in England. It is an excellent read. Despite being a thriller in the technical sense it is a gentle tale with an unusual topic. An aparition that haunts a small cove in remote Dorset. The tale is gripping throughout

It is well worth a read.

Re-read The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brian
Updated version of Holiday's On Ice by David Sedaris
God Is Not Great by Hitchens
The Commitment by Dan Savage

I'm about halfway through Forge of Darkness in Steven Erikson's new Kharkanas trilogy, and the amount of backstory bread-crumb laying is making me increasingly afraid of how dramatically the rug will be pulled out from under me at the last minute. Like it is...every. single. time.

Recently finished Red Country by Joe Abercrombie. Brilliant book that combines the Wild West with medieval fantasy.

Reading Ally Condie's Reached. Love these dystopian trilogies! Just finished Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and really, really, really liked it.

Just finished Minder by Jennifer Kabay. I loved it! MC's are a little younger, but has some dark themes to it. She put some twists on the traditional mythical characters that I really liked. Had not heard of the author before, but was glad I bought it. Just saw it's free right now on Amazon if anyone's interested. Link to book: http://www.amazon.com/Minder-ebook/d...eywords=minder

Now I'm reading CIty of Bones from the Mortal Instruments. Haven't gotten far enough in to determine if it's as great as I've heard others say it is. :)
