previously published work

Hi,
I was wondering about previously published work. I’ve done some research about it and I learned that it's a lot harder to get a literary agent or editor or publisher to consider your work if it's been published already. So if I posted my work on places like a writing community or blog but removed it afterwards, rewrote and polished it, and mentioned it in case they stumbled upon it, would it be considered or automatically rejected?
I don't know if my question made any sense, but I hope someone understood what I meant.
