When is the best time to Query?

Hi Nathan!
I have just been wondering what is the best time to query. Most of the agencies put a time frame of 6-8 weeks on their response- and even longer. Obviously, the time frame is much longer for months like January- when agents have come back from a holiday and have to catch up.
Is now- beginning of December- a good time to query? Or will the query probably end up even lower in the slushpile? Would it be better to query later in January? One thing i dont understand is how agents will choose to respond- and i know every agent is different- but will they go at the bottom of their inbox- say from the date they left off- or work from the newest queries coming in and then head downwards to the oldest?
I scoured the forums for an answer, hope i didnt miss it!
