Congratulations, Nathan! It's a cool cover.
Do you mind if I ask how the experience of writing book two has been compared to book one? Did the story flow as easily? Were there more/less/similar challenges? I've never written a series so I'm just interested in how you're experiencing the process thus far.
Also, did you have much input into the cover design for this book? (I understand authors don't typically have a lot of involvement) Or was it the same process as last time?
Congrats again.

Can't wait to read this book.
And the first one, as well. :)

It was both harder and easier. It was nice that I already knew the characters and world and didn't have to work quite as hard on the world building, but making it happen around an election was somewhat challenging - trying to make an election process lively enough to be of interest to kids was tricky!
Publishers (almost) always have final say over the cover - in theory I had input, but I was so thrilled with both covers I didn't really have anything to suggest.

Excellent, Nathan! Just a few thoughts:-
Is that really a Space Monkey in the top right corner?
The guy with the small green flag could show a little enthusiasm.
Both girls have crossed their arms defensively, or perhaps dismissively. What is the significance of all that? We'll find out in a year. But I want to know now! Even though I am a little older than your target audience.
I'd vote for Jacob. But doesn't the Universe already have an EMPEROR, Ming The Merciless?

It's very pretty! But sorta painful when you have prisms. @_@
(Blue on red hurts because of the rainbows involved with prismed glasses. It makes it pop and such. XD)

How awesome! But, where is the orange? No orange?
I showed my kiddos the first one and they've been harassing me to get it. They absolutely go bonkers for cool covers.

Our local Barnes & Noble's got the book prominently displayed on their New for Young Readers' shelf. Good going, Nathan, feather in your cap. They don't stock all that many new titles.

Ha- not a mullet but he rarely has his hair properly coiffed.
