Chasing Windmills...
um, er...
or Building Them!

Wow, just look at these impressive builders. Whoa!

(And, after their determined folded arms, their unflappable posture, and those staunch expressions, I am especially smitten with their hats!)

Okay:

Today's Sub-Topic:

Streching (a metaphor)

Thursday is stretch day.

On Thursdays, I go through the motions. I stretch for it. I pretend I can bend that much, go that far, reach that high. In winter, the best that happens, most Thursdays, is that I point at it, that place that eludes me, that I cannot see, let alone touch. I imagine it and reach. And, often, on Fridays and Saturdays, I pay for that with sore muscles.

I am like the groundhog: I am light sensitive. I cannot go hither until the light calls me out. But, at last, today, there is sun on all that snow. Spring is nearing. The sun, like a large yellow flower, has opened on the windows.

It is always a surprise, when I wake up in a warmer, more welcoming world, that when I reach, I can touch what I couldn't before. I can see my dreams, they are in sight again, after all that winter.

Do we not all need our Thursday stretch days?

~~

Now, if you will excuse me... (and to quote my favorite Beatles):

"The sun is out." (at last!)
"The sky is blue.
It's beautiful.
And so are you.
Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play?"

Hah! That is so weird that I am listening to that song right now.

My contemplation, then, is this:

The line between chasing and battling phantoms(tilting at windmills) or building wind catchers to spin an energy for one's dreams can be a very slight line.

I've just been noticing so many writers lately having questioning and then clarity with their writing or writing path.
