Dear Nathan,

I have a completed memoir and have begun the query process. So far, I've been asked for partials as well as for a one, three or five page synopsis. No one has requested a proposal. I've seen non-fiction and memoir proposals that are fifty pages or more. Should I have such a proposal in hand, or wait until an agent or editor requests one?

Yeah, I think at some point you may be asked for a proposal even with a full manuscript, so you might want to consider working on at least some of the bigger portions, like the overview.
