Need to have your MS professionally edited before querying?

Hi Nathan,
I searched the forum for this question and couldn't find it, I truly hope it is not a repeat. How important is it to have you MS professionally edited before you start querying agents? When you read in a query letter that the MS has been analyzed and line edited, does that help the writer get the attention of the agent? I am having mine done for myself, but also wanted to know if I should mention it in my query. If it doesn't make a difference, I wouldn't want to waste the room, or sound unprofessional.
Thank you,
Trisha Wolfe
