While poking around the WSJ (via the link posted by Steve regarding paperback originals), I noticed this piece and recalled a thread where author-arranged publicity and signings came up and I mentioned that it's not necessarily as simple as one might expect. That was an interesting and rather fun article, Margo. Thanks.
When I write a book, I'm going to have book signings where I give away homemade chocolate chip cookies. I'll also have someone sitting next to me doing those cartoon characters and maybe a photo booth......and an animal petting zoo. A balloon ride, and a kissing booth with Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt - take your pick. And a roller coaster. And a Rodin exhibit. And fried twinkies.
But you can't get a twinkie if you don't let me give you a signed copy of my book.
