Choosing an Agent When You Don't Have a Portfolio: Strategies and Advice

Post by matthew219 » November 10th, 2025, 5:09 am

Hi everyone Granny Game

I am in the process of finding an agent for my writing project, but I currently have no notable work to showcase. I would like to open a discussion to share my experiences and strategies when choosing an agent in this situation.

Some questions I am thinking about:

Without notable work, how do I choose an agent that fits my genre and writing style?

Should I find an agent who specializes in working with new or unpublished authors?

How do I build an impressive profile without relying on published work?

Are there any strategies to increase my chances of getting noticed by an agent when I have no notable work?

I would love to hear feedback and advice from the community, especially those who have been through this process. Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to read and share your experiences!
