Set in the present time: two broken men on opposite sides of the US collide in Nebraska, exchange their problems and
heal. The American Pioneers provide metaphor, an assortment of characters provide color, and personal loss weighs heavily for pathos. The nearest I think it comes stylistically is 'Cats Eye' by M. Atwood (I am NOT saying it is that good...but hope you do).
