just an opinion.
Set the query in present tense. (more immediate)
Don't give away the whole book. (spoiler alert)
short intro molepeople (make the reader interested in who these folk are without giving it all away)
Intro the hero in one or two captivating sentences (make the reader want to find out why he is digging)
then give the reader the stakes (what's at risk)
read some successful queries & check out 'pitchwars' (it helped me tremendously to read what works)
