I LOVED reading LOOKING FOR ALASKA following your recent post about dynamic character relationships in novels. Aside from being just a brilliant story, I liked the dual purpose of reading for enjoyment and to study effective writer's technique. What other novels would you recommend that follow suit? I don't feel so bad losing myself in a great book (when I should be working on my own) if I'm learning too.

So I guess what I'm asking you, Nathan, is what else have you got that's "straight and fast"?

If you liked LOOKING FOR ALASKA you'd probably like THE SECRET YEAR by my client Jennifer Hubbard. I think it's a great display of interweaving present and past narratives.
