How marketable is speculative fiction these days?

I think it's as marketable as it's always been.

If you're asking to try and find the "easiest" market to break into, I think it's more important to find what you love to write ( based on what you love to read ). Don't let the marketability of the market determine whether or not you write for it.

I agree with Mr. Williams. The problem with trying to be calculating about markets is that by the time you actually write something, the markets have changed. Again. And they're going to keep changing and changing, so just find what you love and stick to it.

I think it's extremely marketable - lots of books selling in that genre right now.
