I am way way behind on Bransforumfest stuff, I'm sorry! I'm getting caught up now and will have an email going out this weekend I think.

I can't come, but I'd love to.

As I said I am 19 and don't yet have my driver's license. I am also dirt-poor and can't even afford a plane ticket, let alone a hotel room, much less a wild week in Vegas. (If I take out a hefty loan I may be able to chip in towards peanuts, though.)
Suggestion: For workshops, conferences, etc., maybe there could be a video-conference of some sort. IDK too much about Skype or webcams -- I actually don't have either of those; my computer is so old that XP runs like molasses. Skype is a subscription and I can't afford that either.

Plus, I think if I installed a webcam the laptop would explode.
But for those of us who can afford these luxuries, I think a video-conference or stream of some sort would be an excellent idea. Not saying to spy on anyone in their bedrooms or anything!
Or is this one of those things, too, where what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?

Rachel,
I know we were talking about doing video conferencing for those who couldn't come, although I don't know how far we got with it.

I vote self-publishing!
Although Mythology is intriguing.
Not sure that helps.....

Actually, it does. You get two votes, so I'll put you down for both.
Did you vote for your top 8 of the list of 14? I don't remember seeing so. If not, your vote for those would be uber helpful, too!

No problem, Sommer. I can add yours and Mira's (hopefully - hint hint, Mira!) to the list with no problem.

There's eight? Really? How many workshops are you doing?
Where's the list - and actually, Brenda, have you thought about starting a separate thread for this? I'm not sure everyone has seen it - although I haven't been around for abit, so maybe they have.....?

Hey Mira, here is the original vote (posted on page 6 of this thread):
dios4vida wrote:Hi everyone!
A bit of big-picture talk here.
We currently have 14 session ideas listed, most with volunteers to moderate said subjects. Since we're talking about four and a half days in Vegas, two sessions a day, but at least an afternoon or even a whole day off for touristy stuff/on-your-own-or-with-a-partner writing or critiquing, that means we have more ideas than available time slots.
Below are the sessions that have been mentioned up to this point (I think I got them all - please feel free to add more if I forgot some!). Please pick your top 8 and post them below. We'll use the results to plan what will take up those valuable workshop slots!
Meet ‘n’ Greet
Story (no leader)
Character Development
Dialogue
Prose/Description
Revisions/Editing
Social Networking (no leader)
Writer Tools and Technology
Insecurities Roundtable
Book Share Roundtable
Critique Groups
Query Workshops (encompassing tag lines, elevator pitches, etc.)
Mythology
Self-Publishing
Other (please specify)
I'll be more than happy to put your votes into the count.
I wasn't sure if starting a new thread for this vote would be a good idea or not - those who are interested in the BransforumFest should be checking here when new posts pop up (I'd think) and those who aren't wouldn't appreciate being bombarded with tons of BransforumFest news and topics. Or would it be a good idea? Not sure. What does everyone think?

Hey guys, just a heads up. We've gotten a few new votes from the master list and I'm waiting on a few more (hopefully), which means that our line-up for the leading sessions may be changing. Our tie-breaker voting may have to start up again with new contestants. Stay tuned for more updates and a new list of the current leaders, hopefully coming soon!!

Hello,
Coming in a bit late here, so:
1. I would like to come, but I'm a maybe at this point.
2. As far as helping or leading workshops, if I came I could help with query critiques
Top 8 workshop picks:
Meet ‘n’ Greet
Critique Groups
Query Workshops
Self-Pub
Insecurities
Revisions/Editing
Dialogue
Story
I do agree that Meet-n-Greet might be separate from the workshops in which case my next vote would be mythology.

Okay, here are my top eight:
Meet ‘n’ Greet
Story (no leader)
Social Networking (no leader)
Writer Tools and Technology
Insecurities Roundtable
Critique Groups
Self-Publishing
Other: Nathan, whatever he wants to do
I guess I like the community ones, and the cutting edge ones more than the nuts and bolts. But others might like the nuts and bolts stuff, so maybe there should be a mix. Anyway, those are my favorites.
Thanks for organizing this!

I would like to take another pulse check of who intends to come to our little retreat and if the dates still work for everyone. We're able to block off rooms in the hotel so we can all be close together but it doesn't look like we'll have enough people to get any sort of discount.
Ok so this is the original list. If your name is on it then I have your email address. If you are certain you won't be able to come and would like to be removed, let me know, and if you aren't on this list at all, PM me with your name and email address so I can include you.

Critique Groups 10
Revisions/Editing 8
Character Development 7
Prose/Description 7
Meet ‘n’ Greet 7
Query Workshops (encompassing tag lines, elevator pitches, etc.) 6
Dialogue 6
Insecurities Roundtable 6
Self-Publishing 6

Mythology 4
Story (no leader) 4
Social Networking (no leader) 3
Other (something from Nathan) 1
Book Share Roundtable 0
I'm gonna hold off on having a tie-breaker vote this time in case more votes come in and until we know exactly how many workshops we will be having. That should streamline things and make it not so troublesome.
Let's keep recruiting and drumming up excitement for the BransforumFest! The more Bransforumers we have, the better the event will be! (And the cheaper our hotel will be, too, apparently!)
