Paused w/ Black to read my friend from high school's manuscript that was recently purchased by Harper Collins.

Then back to Black…isn't that a CD or something…and then Matched came in the mail. :D

And on the 11th, I'm ordering Across the Universe. I'm so excited for that one. :-)

THE SAVAGE DETECTIVES by Roberto Bolano

File this one as another "young adult novel adults don't want young adults to read." A bunch of hyper smart teenage poets drift around Mexico City, get in arguments, and fight off sexual tension.

"Six Months in Sudan: A Young Doctor in a War-Torn Village" by James Maskalyk

It's good. I like the way he writes. He's with the humanitarian group "Doctors Without Borders." It's ... hard to read about some of the stuff that he deals with.

THE MARBURY LENS by Andrew Smith

Very dark, disturbing YA.

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE by Beth Revis

It would be easy to just call this YA Sci-Fi, but it's much more than that.

GRACELING - Kristin Cashore (Forgive my spelling if I made a mistake)

I just started and I find that there is quite a bit of telling and backstory in the first chapter. Its a very intriguing story, though and I am enjoying it so far :)

I like Lamott's non-fiction, but I've never read any of her novels. Curious to see what you think of it.

Just finished The Locked Room, by Sjowall and Wahloo (which was great), and am about to start Arctic Chill, by Arnaldur Indridason. Also finished Jacob Wonderbar. :)

A GAME OF THRONES by George R. R. Martin

Only a few chapters in, but already there's some hints at sex and some cursing, which makes this better than the Tolkien I read as a kid. Thinking of adding R. R. initials to my name.

Enjoy Steve! I'm listening to it on Audiobook, and I have to see it's the best Fantasy I've ever read, er - listened to. I'm almost done with the first volume (this same one) and I simply cannot believe how complex this novel is, without ever getting too complex. Martin is a Maester.

Oh man! Lucky you.

I've just started The Maze Runner. It's going a little slow so far, but I think it's only because I'm on a literary hangover from The Marbury Lens, which if you read YA, this is the one book I would say is a MUST READ. No, I'm not joking.

I just received three books from Amazon: "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen, "We Never Talk About My Brother" by Peter S. Beagle, and "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.

I am about 25 pages in on "Water for Elephants" and I love it already! I don't know why it took me so long to pick up this book. Sara has a great narrative voice!
