Oh, I read Water for Elephants - it's really good! (Although I thought it was a different novel that she wrote during NaNo - I remember reading that she did extensive research for Water for Elephants over a period of many months.)

I recently finished DUST CITY by Robert Paul Weston - super book! I read it in two days!- and am reading GOING BOVINE by Libba Bray and ENDER'S GAME by Orson Scott Card now. Loving both of them.

While the books both required extensive research Sara Gruen is quoted as having written both Water for Elephants and Ape House as NaNo challenges. Not that she finished either during NaNo, but she wrote over 50,000 words of them during two NaNo competitions.

I've just started Snow Falling on Cedars. Before that was Frankenstein, which took me forever to read. OK, it was only like a week, but I couldn't dedicate enough time to it with trying to meet my daily word goals and all.

I'm re-reading The Fallen series by Thomas Sniegoski. I'm almost done with my first NaNo novel so... XD

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marquez. It's been on my to-read list for a while and now I'm reading it for a class.

I'm reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman, and so far I'm loving it. My kind of voice. :)

Recently read Marketable Depression, currently leisurely working through My Liverpool Home (Kenny Dalglish's memoir/auto) and planning to power through Resolution, by Richard B. Parker, at some point over this Thanksgiving break.

Book: True Grit, by Charles Portis

Marvelous stripped down prose, a striking lesson in simplicity, and in unity in voice and point of view. A classic western about to appear (Christmas 2010) as a Coen Brothers film, itself a remake of the classic movie, with Jeff Bridges in the role that brought John Wayne his only Oscar. Woo-hoo.

Audio Book: Blood Work, by Michael Connelly

The book that spawned one of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies, this crime novel has got one whale of an ingenious plot, diabolically rendered. I listened to an abridged version last year, but this unabridged reading (by Dick Hill) is the cat's meow. And I don't usually care for crime fiction.

I know!! I can't wait to see this movie. I should probably read the book too.

The Dead Path - Stephen M. Irwin

The Ship Breaker, by Paolo Bacigalupi. I'm not finished, but so far it is very sad, yet also beautiful in a new way I have not so far experienced.
