Ugh fine!!! I'll admit my age, I'm 22. As for me, I 'wrote' my first book when I was four (with some very creative spelling!), by 10 I'd won a few short story comps, but after that I wrote only for school assignments until taking a writing course at uni - I haven't stopped writing since :)

I'm 53 in April. Blimey, that looks ancient when I write it down! Anyway, I'm old enough to have more sense but I've never let that stop me.
I've been writing seriously on and off for the past eighteen years, but I can't remember a time I didn't think up stories.
Seamus and r louis scott, maybe we should have a Geezers Forum?

Poptart -- A forum for those of us with a little more snow on the roof would be a blast. It would be an extra bonus to correspond with someone who actually uses the word "blimey" in common parlance. (I suppose it shows that I haven't traveled much.)

Don't you say that over there?
Oh, well. I don't use it much myself but it's better than swearing with all these youngsters around!

We prefer "chronologically challenged".

I'm 29 and I started writing when I was 13 or so. The writing stopped for a while because I was busy being a young mum but I started writing again back in November :)

I'm 29, and other than some short stories in college I started writing fiction when I was 26 or so.

I'm 31. I made my first attempt at a novel at age 21, and got about 75k words in, but then never finished. It was absolute drivel. I made another attempt at age 25, and got about 25k words in and failed. Then at age 31 I was about to delete the file that had those 25k words that was six years old, but I ended up finishing the novel, and then I finished another one this past month. I've got 4 more outlined and in various levels of progress (all between 5k and 20k words) that I'm hoping to finish first drafts on this year.

I think my writing interest was piqued by watching too many episodes of Californication and moving to a country that is dreadfully lacking in pubs.

I'm 18 and I've been writing since I knew how. My mother tells me I could write my name with a pencil when I was two, which is slightly unbelievable, but I just go with it. I wrote stories about my stuffed animals and imaginary friends when I was a kid, and I've written many short stories, though I have not had one single item published whatsoever, which is kind of sad. I started writing a novel when I was about twelve, but never finished it, and even now I have not finished one. The farthest I've gotten is about 35,000 words.
I'm so glad that there are other young people here, so I don't feel like such an amateur or a wannabe anymore. :)

Well, we young'uns are the inheritors. When all these old folks is deed, someone's gotta keep the world chalk full of literature.

When faced with the apparent demographic of Nathan's World, I feel like I've walked in on one of my adult kids' parties. I finally understand why the YA genre (aside from being red hot commercially) is such a topic of conversation here. It doesn't mean I'm going anywhere, but I suppose I ought to apply for a green card or something so I can stay here legitimately. Is there a geezer consulate somewhere?

35. I don't know how I got to be 35. I wrote my first story in grade school (2nd grade? 3rd?). It was called "The Boy Who Thought He Could Paint the Sky". I then wrote Poems, Etc. Except that was no "etc."

I've always writing stories, essays, blogs, and ramblings. I wrote many bad screenplays in my 20s. Now I'm finally working on my first novel. I try not to get down about not having started earlier.
