And let's not forget about Dr. Spock - in addition to being the science officer on The Enterprise, he studied to become a pediatrician, and was the author of the best-selling "Baby and Child Care", published in 1946, and devoured by mothers during the 1950's and 60's. It's pretty amazing how these people branched out like that.

Interesting how the Vulcan ears and eyebrows don't show in photographs of Dr. Spock. But they can work wonders these days with Photoshop, or plastic surgery. And time travel.
