The weirder, the better, as far as I'm concerned! So far I haven't used too much for research - just a tiny bit from the Embalming book on how many days it takes for eyeballs to liquify after death. Never thought I'd have a character ruminating on that, so there you go!

Reminds me of a scene in Caleb Carr's The Alienist. Creepy murderer guy liked to take the eyes of his victims. And keep them.
