Oh yay! People are playing! I was worried I'd be the only one. :p

Aspiring X - I forgot! I had the same fear. I really did. I was scared a shark would jump out of the toilet. Thank you so much for having the same fear. :)

Okay, another random fact about me:

My check engine light was on for the last a week and a half, and I didn't do anything about it. Today it went off. I'm going to assume that means everything is fine.

No, no, no, no, no, don't ignore it. I destroyed a perfectly good Honda that way -- I will spare you the story, but the engine suddenly blew up. Make an appointment today. We don't want to find out you are posting on the forums while you wait for the tow truck.

Holly's right, have it checked. I'm betting it was a loose gas cap. The computer in your car will have logged what exactly the error was. I just learned this (so I'm inflicting it upon you): when the computer system in the car finds something wrong, it logs it once and does nothing. The second time it logs the same problem, it turns the "check engine" light on. If it checks the system and gets no error twice, consecutively, it turns the light back off.

And on another note, I seem to have had ALL the fears the rest of you have had: Jaws, bottom-biters, underbed creepies, tendon-slicing. My gosh, I was a basket case as a child. I also ran from vacuum cleaners and flushing toilets (hurt my ears).

Wow, thanks Holly and Margo. I certainly don't want to blow my car up! I guess I was just hoping it had spontaneously fixed itself. :P

Okay - New random fact about me: I will get my car looked at because it's probably a very good idea to do that once your 'check engine light' goes on. :)

Good, we're proud of you!

Another random fact: my favorite food is watermelon, followed by Turkish or Green Mountain Country Vermont coffee.

yay! i'm glad others have been scared of sharks in the potty! my family thought i was nuts!
the people under the bed thing never has scared me. But unlocking my car in the middle of the night in the empty parking lot terrifies me! i always think that someone is hiding under the car and will slash my achilles tendons. Oh yeah! and i have to check the back seat, and make sure it's empty... which is only good sense, but i know a lot of people who don't. my mom actually had a man hide in the back seat of her car and pull a knife on her while she was driving!!!* ALWAYS check the back seat.
another random fact: i love the avatar the last airbender series so much that sometimes i watch it even when my kids aren't around to use as an excuse.
* everything turned out alright. he just had her drive him into the city. he didn't hurt her. but still!

I always lock my doors in a car. Too much Grand Theft Auto, I think.

Yep, that's my car compulsion. Then again, I used to drive through the worst part of town in the wee hours of the morning to get to work. I always ask people if they've locked their door when we get in the car. Of course, if I'm tired it comes out, "Confirm you have secured the vehicle." 911 flashback. :) I still occasionally answer my phone, "911. State your emergency." It's pretty good fun, actually. Freaks people out if they don't recognize my voice and think they somehow really dialed 911.

Random facts about me:

My husband and I got engaged three weeks after we met.

On Jaws: I LOVE JAWS! But surfing at Dillon Beach is still out of the question.

I was totally scared of toilets, too! I never did see Jaws, but when I was in elementary school, a friend told me that snakes could crawl up the pipes of your toilet and I was always terrified of getting bitten! Haha!

My random fact: My favorite food is zucchini fritters with mint sauce. YUM!

Embarrassing, you say? Yesterday, I accidentally started the wrong washer in a laundromat just as the real owners of the clothes inside it came to move their laundry to the dryers. Oops!

Random fact about me:

Well since we are talking childhood fears, I accidentally saw the Exorcist around the age of 7 or 8 and proceeded to demand my parents remove the frame of my bed so that my mattresses would sit directly on the floor. I thought this would make it less likely for the devil to start possessing me and throw me around like crazy on my bed (a la Regan as Captain Howdy).

My initials are in fact ABC.

I HATE beets.

I have an irrational and extreme dislike of chewing gum.

My biggest celebrity crush is on Win Butler of Arcade Fire.
