What is writing to you?

Post by esther » March 20th, 2010, 1:17 am

It takes courage to pick up the pen.

So I've got a few tips.

Write until you can't go any further without digging deep within yourself.
Dig deep. Dig deeper, and dig until the mere thought of picking up the pen scares you.
Now, take that leap of faith.
Close you eyes and let the ink dance on the page, and when you finally open your eyes, you'll see before you...

the ink had run out.

The meaning of my life. Without writing I am just another cog in the Machine. With writing I might still just be another cog in the Machine, but at least I chose my place in it.

Writing is an escape to a different world with swords and other worldly creatures and my own imagination :)

It is what calls to me in my sleep.
It is what keeps me from being able to go anywhere without a pad of paper and a pen.
It is that rambling thought in my brain that never goes away.
It is a need to share my story.
It is gnawing at my fingers until I type it down.
It is my gift.
It is my curse.
And I love it.

Writing is what makes me believe I can do so many great things, even if it only with words. Especially with words.

It's my second love, after reading.

Well, okay, it's my third - no, fourth - love, but we don't need to go into details ...

Writing is my biggest joy and my biggest frustration.
It is my escape and a place to escape from.
It is my friend and my enemy.
Writing is my dream and it is my nightmares.
But in the end writing is mine and mine alone. No one can take it from me and no one can force me to do it.
I do it on my time (and usually works time too) and in my way.
Working my very first attempt at a mystery novel. 1st draft

Writing, for me, is a means to an end.
