So far, I think the story is super cute.

The only thing I'm not sure of, is weather or not the average middle grade reader would know what stalactites are. I can't remember how old I was when we learned about that stuff. Other than that, I think the story has a really nice flow.

Good job!

Thanks Ken and Gonzo

I asked my son (he's nine) and he knows what stalactites are. I'll quiz the kids at the bus stop on Monday though. Thanks again.

I know next to nothing of this genre, but I loved this opening. I was disappointed when I came to the end of the excerpt because I'd forgotten it was just an excerpt. lol. Guess I'll just have to wait and buy the book. ;-)

This is charming! I don't know anything about MG, but I would read this to my son.

That was a fun little read. I immediately related to Cedric by flashing back to PE and other middle-school times of fear. I would assume there's "the girl" in the story? How about posting the part where Cedric meets her for the first time? Everything flowed. Nice

Thank you Ryan. Yes, there is a girl, but it's not so much a romantic relationship as it is a very close friendship.

This is a quirky and adorable piece! I'm loving the subtle humor :)

Ahhhh! I like it. Cedric learns to be a dragon from the beings he's supposed to burn, eat and destroy. From the little I've read, I can picture Cedric the Dorky Dragon perfectly.

This could be an easy read series that never really comes to an end:

Cedric the Dorky Dragon Looks for Treasure

Cedric the Dorky Dragon Finally Learns to Fly

Cedric the Dorky Dragon Saves Christmas

Cedric the Dorky Dragon Goes to Outer Space

Cedric the Dorky Dragon Gets Published

Thanks everyone!

I'm actually writing Cedric as a stand-alone middle-grade novel. But if that doesn't work out I could see adapting it to a chapter book series. Great idea, Ryan.
