Hi
I'm new here and new to the world of self publishing. I just finished writing my first book (non-fiction) and my wife and I have been preparing it for publication on KDP. We are using PC based MS Word --> Calibre...
We have found that Calibre places the Table of Contents either at the very end of the book at the very beginning (before the title page.) Neither of these options seems reasonable to me. Shouldn't the TOC be located after the front matter (before the foreword, the Chapter 1, etc.?
I would like my book to be viewed as a "real" not "just a Kindle book." Is it considered acceptable for "real" digital books to have their TOC at the very end of the book? If not, can anyone recommend a reasonable workaround? (I have heard that people put two TOCs in their book -- a Claibre-generated TOC and a hand-coded TOC. This too feels less-than-professional to me...)
Thanks in advance for you replies...
