Well, seeing as I'm quite comfortable being the follower AND the fact that just about everyone I know is in on this... Count me in!
Three writing goals for May, eh?
1. Changing this goal. Instead of 30K new words, I'm going to get through my current WIP and try to rewrite the scenes that bring me to the ending. And then finish that. Essentially, my goal is to get back to work.
2. Draft either a synopsis or a query for my MG book in hopes that this helps narrow down the scope.
3. Spend time reading and learning from a writing book (ie, Donald Maass or James Scott Bell).
Those are 3 big time commitments for me and there are a few things that I can see already that might be in my way: my writing group commitments and my HM coming up in a few weeks. Methinks it's time for a schedule.
And Claudie! You almost got arrested?! Do tell!
*********************
5/1: Made it through Ch 6, working now on Ch 7. Too overwhelmed to consider synopsis/query. Hope to buy a writing book tomorrow (payday).
5/2: No writing or editing done today, but I did spend time gathering sources for a synopsis. I think I'm going to start with a synopsis instead of a query. Start with five pages and whittle down to one...
5/3:
5/4: Made it through Ch 8
5/5: Ch 9. AND figured out a way to rearrange some of the scenes to make it flow easier and increase the stakes for my MC. What fun is a MG adventure when there are all these adult-figures around to help him? Changing it up and putting him on his own (with his friend, of course). We'll see what kind of trouble he can get into now...

Re: National Novel Writing MAY
I am in!
My goals are:
1. I had already set the goal to finish the current draft of TLF by the 31st, so this works.
2. Finish and submit the short I'm working on.
3. Write 30K
4. Either start new project (Shiny New Ideas all over the place!) or go back and clean up sci-fi from NaNo.
That's four. I'm feeling pretty productive this month.
5/01: Finished 3rd round of edits on short story, which I still have to name. Wrote 1100 words.
5/02: 325. I had a headache and that was all I could manage...
5/03-5/05: 1700 combined.
5/06: 200
5/07: 0 words, edited 10 pages
5/08: 300 words, edited 5 pages.
5/22: I've written more, but haven't really kept track (bad Cookie), but I'm almost done with my edits. I also figured out how to incorporate a suggestion Dios4vida and Trixie made to me about the beginning, so I've been working on that too.
May Total: 3625
UPDATE:
5/05: I'm going into heavy edits now as I finish up these scenes and moving on to editing the ending.
5/22: Dios4vida, that is so exciting!

You guys up for trying June? Now that I'm settled into the writing schedule at home, this is doable.

Margo! Glad to hear your writing schedule is on track. I've started a June thread. Two of them, technically. Woot, here's to giving good word count in June.Margo wrote:You guys up for trying June? Now that I'm settled into the writing schedule at home, this is doable.
