Claudie, if you're writing fiction (even for school) it counts! Put it in your totals! You might end up using that writing someday.

I'm playing along this month, but maybe not in the spirit in which this was intended.

I've been diligently using my writing time to go through 3 readers' comments on my 2010 NaNo. I'm skipping the word choice edits and focusing instead on the big picture questions they brought up. I took all their questions (and my own questions) and compiled it into one master word doc that is somewhat organized by topic.

I'm now facing an alarming number of questions about the world, rules, and backstory that I'm unsure how to answer; a new outline draft; and a major plot point that I just discovered to be factually incorrect.

My story is good, but it needs a lot of work. Of the 3 items I listed above, I'm hoping to get two of the three finished/figured out by the end of the month. And if I get all three? Yay, me!

Mkay, but only in parenthesis. There won't be that much because I have the poetry, essay and theatre play classes this semester, but I expect 6-8 shorts (well, flash, really) to be written in addition to the rest. Thing is, I want to see how much I can get done on my home project + novel-class project. It lets me estimate how much I should achieve for the next three months, if I put the time into it (a question to which the answer will always be "not enough", if you ask me).

EDIT: What I mean is, it's a handy measure of what I can accomplish despite a busy schedule (school + work), which is the norm for me.

But I wrote this weekend! Let's see how much it gives me. :)

Ah, Margo. Freaking love your covers, just saying.

And with all this writing, however will you ensure people stay off your lawn?

Home stretch already? I can barely believe we're already on the 23rd. The last two weeks breezed by (and not because they were nice) and I feel like I'm only taking baby writing steps. I thought my life was hectic last semester, but this is worse. But, well, I'm holding up and still writing, and I admit I'm proud of that.

I successfully re-drafted some key plot points over the weekend, redid my intro pages, and went through the first three chapters. When I type that out, it doesn't sound like much, but it took all my mental energy over the weekend!

I may have been a rebel and not following the rules of the game, but my goal - to finish this draft of my WIP - has been accomplished!! :D I'm considering it a success, considering it was probably the most productive stint of writing I've ever had.

You're really done? That's awesome, Brenda! I thought your were quite a ways off, still.

Took out my prologue and re-wrote the introduction to better capture the voice of an 11 yr old boy. It's not perfect, but it's much better than before.

Am now stripping out the convoluted backstory, cleaning up plot lines, and pulling these opening chapters together. I feel like there's no sense diving into the later chapters until I have the front-end changes ironed out.
