Finally received the cover art for my novella coming out in January from Carina Press. The design literally stunned me...or maybe it was the visual representation of all the work I'd done going from idea to publication. :)

I told myself I was going to keep my squeeing to a minimum and only to a couple of people in private, but I just had the most excellent surprise when someone told me to check the rankings for my pen name's ebooks. On a distribution site that shall remain nameless, my pen name has 6 of the top 100 spots for the subgenre...including #1. BOOM, baby.

Squee!!! My beauty, Crystal Shade got it's very first review from a dear Australian reader at Smashwords;
http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/104029

Stars: * * * * * (Out of 5)
To begin, this is not your everyday Fantasy novel. It's an interesting story about a little girl who dies and becomes an Angel. Without giving too much away, the first half of the book focuses on her training. There are lots of descriptive pages and the story is very in-depth and involved. The second half is about..... Well you'll just have to read it and find out. For a first novel from this Author, I'll have to say it's very well written. It's intriguing and thought provoking. It is not a book you can just quickly skim through and read in one night, you have to absorb the words and create the fantasy in your mind. I would call this a supernatural fantasy. It is very different. I'll be waiting for volume 2 to see how it plays out. Also if anyone's interested go to the Crystal Shade Angeni website and check out the artwork for this novel, the Author is also an artist and he has outdone himself. The artwork is absolutely breathtaking, some of the most beautiful art I've ever seen. Well done Mr. Szabo.

Cookie, you and I should collaborate. We WILL find you Margo (in a totally NOT creepy sounding way).

And the secret will be safe with us. Until someone bribes us and our wills are tested. But we'll still keep it seekrit. Probably... :)

I thought I would be less excited as time went on, but I'm not.

The pen name is now:
A top 10 indie author with one distributor, with multiple top 20 titles in the subgenre;
A featured author with two distributors (no, I didn't pay for that);
Featured in a newsletter that goes out to tens of thousands of subscribers (also not a paid advertisement).

Part of my squeeing is that I'm excited. Part is so people will know this is possible (and not as rare as some people would have you think...if you put in the writing time and follow the advice of other successful writers).

Edit: And in case anyone is wondering, I don't do free, 99-cents, or $2.99 novels.
