A great author has died.

Post by Beethovenfan » November 26th, 2011, 4:39 pm

I am saddened to know that one of my childhood heroes is gone. Anne McCaffrey is the author who inspired me to love reading. I have read (almost) everything she has written and I will miss her.

I saw that, too, Beethoven Fan. It was the same for me. Anne McCaffrey's Dragon books were very special to me as a child. I feel the loss of a writer who made a real difference in my life.

She contributed beautifully to the world of the imagination. May she rest in peace.

She will be missed. Kudos to her for disproving the gender stereotype that speculative fiction isn't women's domain too. She and others like Octavia Butler and Ursula LeGuin have paved the way for contemporary female SF authors to really carve out a future all their own.

She's one of my great literary heroes, too. So sad to hear the news, but I'm so grateful for all the great characters and stories she gave us.
