Today I have an extra-special guest post from blogger extraordinaire Margo Lerwill – one of the brains behind Wicked & Tricksy, and author of the feisty, Norse-themed urban fantasy short Dis.

"Bay Area author Matt Stewart has turned loose a bright, peppery, infectious, debut novel, The French Revolution, an irreverent literacy farce that entertains for most of its cheerfully eccentric path. It’s fresh, funny, and bright, qualities seldom found in our overly earnest literature, when low-rent genre novels like Twilight are written with earnestness more applicable to John Steinbeck and Eugene O’Neill."

There are a lot of myths surrounding self-publishing, and part of the mission of this blog is to try and dispel them.

One of the most common myths is that if you self-publish you will never make any money. Today, I show that if you examine the assumptions behind this, it all falls apart.

Self-Publishing Myth #1: You Will Never Make Any Money

I seem to be the only one who blogs on the weekend. Guess that's why I get all the chicks. Well, that and my mastery of the seduction techniques pioneering by Australian strippers. I've got a few:

Windows are for Cheaters: A request for not your desert island books, but your Delta terminal book. Also a reading list.

We lost a good one: Remembering the Big Man, Clarence Clemons

Finally: Invincible Summers and Broken Heroes

And Happy Father's Day to all.

You know what hurts? My abs after two days of core work. But they REALLY hurt when I laugh, which is exactly what I did just reading Hektor's post... Yes, Hektor. Your blogs and your sense of humor are why you get all the chicks. Just like why my not-so-six-pack abs bring all the boys to my yard...

Anyway. I'm punchy today and looking for a distraction from editing. When all else fails, BLOG!
Happy Weekend, all.

I bet the cases of beer and the Springsteen help as well. :) That would get me every time.

Wow, you weekend bloggers are hardcore! Kudos. I can barely keep up with my once-a-week blogging schedule.

You Never Know When Your Promo Seeds Will Blossom

There is an old adage that half the money you spend on advertising is wasted but the problem is you never know which half. I think with social media the percentage which is effective is more like 10%.

I see it like a farmer scattering a mystery bag of seeds in a wide open field. You don’t know which ones will take, and which will get eaten by birds. And you never know when they will blossom.
