Do you have a new blog post?
Re: Do you have a new blog post?
Indie authors Mark Edwards and Louise Voss are making history in the UK.
Their second book Catch Your Death has been at the top of the Kindle charts (for all books) for over a week. To top it all off, their first novel Killing Cupid - which has been slowly creeping up behind – is now at #3!
For those unaware of their background, neither of them have a history in trade publishing (like many indie authors, they couldn’t crack the system). They only self-published for the first time in February, and Catch Your Death was released in April.
Overall, they have now sold 20,000 e-books, 17,500 of those in the month of June alone. Staggering.

Did two things to my blog yesterday:
Renamed it from "Where to?" to "A Soldier's Stories" - I think that's far more apt for the contents.
And, I posted the Army's Daily Dozen Calisthenics anyone can use anywhere at any time. No special equipment. And, if you want to add a little more muscle, use some light hand weights.
All comments appreciated.

Is Ulysses a Pretentious POS? Poison or Paradise for the Aspiring Writer?
June 16 is Bloomsday, named after Leopold Blood, the main character in James Joyce's Ulysses. Modern Library listed the book as the greatest novel of the 20th century. It's probably also the most mocked book -- right up there with Twilight, though for ostensibly different reasons.
Is it worth our time? Do you have strong feelings either way? I perform an act of strip mining...

Today I have an extra-special guest post from blogger extraordinaire Margo Lerwill – one of the brains behind Wicked & Tricksy, and author of the feisty, Norse-themed urban fantasy short Dis.

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
"Bay Area author Matt Stewart has turned loose a bright, peppery, infectious, debut novel, The French Revolution, an irreverent literacy farce that entertains for most of its cheerfully eccentric path. It’s fresh, funny, and bright, qualities seldom found in our overly earnest literature, when low-rent genre novels like Twilight are written with earnestness more applicable to John Steinbeck and Eugene O’Neill."

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
There are a lot of myths surrounding self-publishing, and part of the mission of this blog is to try and dispel them.
One of the most common myths is that if you self-publish you will never make any money. Today, I show that if you examine the assumptions behind this, it all falls apart.
