Band Names if I had a band

Post by abc » January 8th, 2010, 7:05 pm

One of my favorite meaningless activities is coming up with band names. I have zero musical ability so a band will never happen, but that doesn't stop me
(although for one day in college my g-friends and I formed a band called the Moonboys where I kinda played bongos).

Here is a list:
Ali and the hobos
Military Industrial Complex
West Denny
The Quiet (tho I'm betting this is taken)

I can't be the only one with this hobby.

Lol. I would totally join Military Industrial Complex. Admittedly my musical abilities are measured using negative numbers. But maybe that's fitting for MIC. A lot of raw noise lacking in subtlety...

One night a friend showed me a video and it was tagged with two descriptors.

I saw the two phrases and immediately thought they'd make a great band and first album name.

The band name? Puppet Chaos. And our first album would be titled Social Engineering. :)

Just been doing this for a friend's band. Gave him Awesomesauce, The Spares, Lucky Slacks, And the Monkeys Had Congress with the Tribal Wives and Fabulous Disaster among others.

Well, in order to make my procrastination not as bad, I'll use writing names.

Simply the Muse - more of a classical, easy listening style band

Writer's Blues - the blues, of course

Deus Ex Machina - rock, heavy metal

Published!!!! - yeah, you gotta include the exclamation points ;)

Genre Specific - this band is one you pretty much know what you'll get

Okay, I have to admit, even I am not that creative! But I just had a good laugh :)

lol fun! I play the guitar! If I would make a band it would be the Green Squall, weird but it has something to do with an inside joke I have with some friends of mine. We would be crazy metal/rock/alternative/punk. LOL that would be fun!

My little boys want to be rock stars when they grow up. The name I suggested for their band: Scarlet Fever (two out of three got it at the same time.)

Haha, "We Were Promised Jet Packs" is an awesome name!

How about a heavy metal band called Passive Voice? Eh? Eh?

That passive voice can be pretty brutal, after all ;).

Whenever I do this, I don't end up sounding cool and edgy at all. I sound like something Goober would have come up with on the Andy Griffin show. I was in a pool hall / bar last night with some friends. The place was an odd mixture of those in penny-loafers and those with chains hanging from their jeans. They were advertizing the band schedule on the wall of the men's room. The winner? "Double Dog Dare." Welcome to Mayberry.

Passive Voice should be an all girl metal band, with maybe a very timid looking male drummer. They could pose very daintily in sundresses and then just WAIL. :)

The best I've come up with for a heavy metal was Vein Laden. :P

i'd perform in a band called "Blunt Force Traumas". Played bass and did some drum beats for a band called "Del Negro" (members are friends of mine).

'AmalgaNation' is another name that crossed my mind. (Straight Metal head here, if you couldn't tell) ;)

I totally forget where I heard this, but there was a fake band with the name Onward Christian Slater.

Genius, I say.

I always liked the name Dingo Ate My Baby from Buffy. I hope I'm remembering that right.
