Hi Nathan,
So I'm in a bit of a quandary. I just finished my second book (first came close to being published but ultimately was a no-go), and spoke to my agent recently. Agent loves the new book and is enthusiastic about representing it, but admits she is not familiar with the genre's market. Should I be concerned?
Thanks so much!

Re: Second book in genre not represented by agent
An agent's enthusiasm and reputation is more important than familiarity with the genre. Assuming the agent is reputable and good, she'll be able to figure out whom to submit to. If she's not as familiar with a particular genre she may not be able to quite offer you the same level of feedback on the manuscript itself and she may not be as familiar/friendly with the editors in that genre, but that's not likely going to be to be the difference between the book selling and not selling.
