Writer's Market

Post by Heather B » January 3rd, 2011, 5:33 am

So, for my birthday, I was given a membership to the Writer's Market site along with the deluxe edition book. Is any one else a member? Or have you been one in the past and found the site useful?

There is a lot on there so I'm still exploring...

I'm a member. There is quite a bit on that site to learn from. I can't say I've pulled anything from it recently but I read online and the magazine often.

I've often wondered about this resource. Please let me know about your experiences.

I've had the Writer's Market membership, which offers a lot of information. It's sometimes difficult to wade through. It can be useful, but you need to spend time becoming familiar with it. Good Luck with that.

This year I requested the Guide to Lit Agents instead to narrow the information down. I haven't finished looking at everything, but did run a few searches for agents in the genre I write in (I received the book, which comes with an online access membership as well). It will assist you in getting the names and info on agents or publishers, but will require that you get to know the book as well.

Always check the contacts on the web first or via social networks if you prefer. It's a volatile business right now.
