A post with quick tips on cutting filler and fluff from a novel, once sentence at a time... (The link to Lisa Rector's revision list is a super-extra-mega-bonus. Good stuff. Brilliant editor.)

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
To give my mind a break after NaNoWriMo, I've gone random today, asking people how they fly in their dreams. Everyone has their own unique method. I pedal my feet like crazy but only get a few feet off the ground before I land again. Kind of like a chicken.

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
Now that NaNoWriMo is over, and that I have two drafts in need of major revisions, I've been struggling to find how to go about it (it is the first time it has happened).
But I have a plan now. A "complex" one. ;)

Re: What are the odds of getting a literary agent?
So true!!taylormillgirl wrote:Ditto Holly. It's a misleading statistic. From what I've read on a few agent blogs, the majority of queries are either so unintelligible or so off the wall that they're easily rejected.
Let's say I took 99 penguins and put them in a room with 1 pigeon, then I told you that only 1% of the birds could fly. That wouldn't surprise you, right? :-)
Edit: One more thing. Janet claims to request more full manuscripts than most agents, opting for a full instead of a partial many times. So her odds of acceptance don't surprise me either.

I have a post about Recurring Elements in Your Writing. I seem to have a lot of these. ^^
