Cartwheels on Warm Cement

Post by Sheila Cull » October 6th, 2010, 5:19 am

Nathan Bransford addressed television series script writing yesterday in his Blog. Reminded me of when, less than a year ago, a big time movie producer asked me to redo a manuscript into screenplay format. I saw myself flying first class to Hollywood, signing contracts and saying, "Do what you want with the scene but make sure the dialogue remains precisely as I wrote it."

Ultimately - rejected. Learning screenplay formatting took way over a hundred hours in 12 weeks. But I did it.

My time wasn't wasted because after all, it was spent writing. After that 1000th rejection I suddenly tripped into memoir writing and completing that first memoir chapter? I ran outside (I hadn't been outside in weeks, too much reading and writing) and did cartwheels. Seriously.

What have you been happy to waste time on recently?
